Amzim Marine's Coronavirus (COVID-19) FAQ
Posted on 20th March 2020 at 19:45
We want to update our valued customers on our game plan during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic.
They say that slogan of the United States Postal Service is: "Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night shall stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." While USPS does not officially have a motto, these words are immortalized in granite above the entrance of the New York City Post Office on 8th Avenue. While Amzim Marine's motto is “If it exists on a boat, Amzim Marine can diagnose, replace, or repair it,” in times like these, we want to assure you that we live by the words immortalized by the Post Office.
In the spirit of this, we are here to let you know that as of today (March 20th, 2020), Amzim Marine Services will remain open for business during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. As such, we wanted to answer a couple of preliminary questions you might have when considering whether or not to give us a call.
Are you open for business? What are your hours?
YES! Amzim Marine is going to continue to operate during our usual business hours (8:00am to 5:00pm) until further notice. We will still come out to service your boat, and Naples Canvas & Upholstery will continue to offer their services as well. With that said, we ask you not come in to our office; don't worry, we'll still be manning our phones, so give us a call! We are not 100% sure about marina closures but we will stay up-to-date with them to ensure continued service. We do ask that, during this time, please reserve minor repairs like light bulb changes for a later date. This is a great time for you to go through your vessel and make a punch out list of the things you can’t do yourself, and for those you can't, we can help you with.
Is your Parts Department open?
Yes, we are still able to receive parts for the time being. We will remind you that this is subject to change as our parts suppliers may close or offer limited service in the future. If any such changes occur, we are happy to inform you. As of right now, Formula's TAG Group is still up and running, though production has halted for the time being. Again, if there are any further delays, we will keep you up-to-date. Mercury Marine is also operating at a limited capacity, so please factor that into your expectations for ordering parts.
Are there boating dangers related to the Coronavirus that would stop us from taking our boat out on the water?
Short answer: no. The beauty of boating is the fact that it is a VERY effective way of practicing "Social Distancing", meaning getting away from crowds of people. We'll have to agree with the CDC when they say stay away from large crowds: Don't go to beach parties. Other than that, being out on the water is a great way to escape from the stresses of terrestrial problems, including pandemics.
Do you have any recommendations on boating safely during the times of the coronavirus?
We're so glad you asked! We have plenty, which are located in previous Blog Posts (here and here). Follow these guidelines, and your boating trip should be much safer. Again, we also recommend that you do not attend large gatherings.
Again, Amzim Marine WILL remain open for business during our normal business hours. We hope that you all stay safe, and follow the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 prevention. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call at (239)228-6713, or email us at chris@amzim.net.
God Bless!
